Steve Bliss: It happens more often than you might think. Moreover, emotions can sometimes cloud judgment, particularly when dealing with sentimental items. I recall one case where a client struggled to assign a monetary value to a collection of antique dolls passed down through generations. She felt an immense emotional connection to them, but ultimately, we needed a professional appraisal to determine their fair market value for estate planning purposes.
